Since I've gone back to riding in leathers (versus textile) for the most part, I had to break out the rain gear. Well, it had apparently been a long time and it was clearly no longer serviceable. I did a ton of research on the many options available and settled on some criteria: 1. Two piece; 2. Had to go over leathers; 3. Preferred a breathable/waterproof material; 4. be motorcycle/helmet/rider friendly.

As I said, there are a lot of options out there and at many price points. After trolling my usual boards and talking to folks I made up my mind on what to try: Frog Toggs. These are consistently rated highly, 100% waterproof, breathable, and fairly packable. I'll be taking them with me on the Gap trip next week and if history serves I will no doubt get a chance to try them. I'll update this thread with a full performance review as soon as they get wet.
