Until I have better ways of keeping lists of things on the site (under profiles probably), I'm creating this thread as a place to keep links to various special tools because I'm endlessly forgetting where I got XYZ tool.

For instance, this is the wheel balancer I use:

Do you think that the universal that you have should work with the Hawk rear wheel?

I suggest that we give it a try. If it doesn't work then we can always order the correct cones.

I might just order the one that is specific to it . . . at least to have it because it always sucks to get 90% done with a project only to not have the right tool on hand.

In Knoxville at Huey's Cycle Service, Ed showed me an electronic throttle body sync tool made by a company Kuwa Seito out of Japan.

Kuwa Seiko Throttle Body Carb Sync Tool

I have not yet been able to find where to purchase one of these gadgets.

I have not yet been able to find a source for one. Searching around today, I came across a couple of interesting projects where people have constructed their own digital syncing tools:

Ben Mendis forwarded me a link to the O2 meter. It's pricey but would enable me to adjust the fuel/air mixture on the K100RS (which does not have an O2 sensor)

Of all the tools I have ever owned, this has been by far the most useful. It's much more industrial strength than the corresponding leathermans and can be used to do some real work. It's saved the day on more than one occasion.

I just wanted to share my experiences with the K&N oil filters. You know, the ones with the nut on the bottom, that are available on Amazon.com. Well, as you may have guessed: the nuts break off. And, you're left with a difficult filter extraction. They are a "Do not buy " recommendation.

Thanks for the heads up. For BMW's I always buy Bosch filters and use a filter wrench which I always carry on the bike.
