Hello, I'm a new member, just received my maps this week, very impressed with them so far. My question would be what city to stay as a base to ride in the Smoky mountains. I have been there 3 times and stayed at deals gap, robbinsville, and Iron Horse cabin. I would prefer to stay somewhere we can ride all day and then walk to a place to eat and have a few beers. A mom and pop type motel would be fine. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'd look to stay at the Oak Park Inn in Waynesville. Mom & Pop, popular with riders, walk to lots of dining choices and pub in town.

Maggie Valley has a lot of rooms, but it's not as convenient to walk. If you like the area west, Fontana Village Resort is good, food, bar, etc. right there.

    Oak Park Inn

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Oak Park Inn offers 37 rooms including efficiencies and pet-friendly options. Walk to shops, restaurants, local breweries and theater in downtown Waynesville or take a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Casino, several golf courses, the Biltmore Estate and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.
