Gravel mountain pass where I lose the clutch cable on the DR650. I don't remember this being all that challenging.
A flowing swoopy wide double yellow fast road. There is a fair amount of traffic and quite a few houses and businesses along this section. It feels like one of the main routes through the area. It is twisty in places with some 25mph corners, but overall a nice pretty flowing ride. We would ride it again coming through this area.
I didn't take any notes while riding this. I remember it to be an easy gravel mountain pass road, but I will need to check it out again. I believe it's part of the MABDR but will have to check that as well.
This is one of our better liked connectors to get to Catoctin Mountain from the general DC area. It beats taking I70 out to Frederick. There are a fair number of houses with a number of slow towns to go through, but it's generally a nice ride. But don't take it too far into Westminster. Traffic just sucks there. I will have to go back and explore for a better way around Westminster. We generally like to take 97 up to this route, but 97 is also starting to get built up as of this writing June 2023.
This turned out to be a very nice connector road to 77 and beats staying on 15.
Beautiful wooded single yellow line curvey road ... fair number of houses.
At first I thought this was going to be a good road, but I would probably choose to stay on 522 next time. When we rode this we got stuck behind some ridiculously slow trucks. It's nice in places though. It starts in open farmland and then goes wooded, but there are some significant settlements along the way and a few stops.
This is just a beautiful tree lined straight but very hilly road that goes through a few swamps and bogs.
This road is paved and makes for a nice way to avoid some traffic.
A nice connector. I always forget about the dramatic hills along this route.
This little section of road kicks ass. Pretty curvy hilly with whoops. Merits more exploration.
Lime Plant Road is a surprisingly well paved hilly curvy farm road with a tree tumnel section and some very aurprising corners on hills that drop out from under you.
Wonderful valley two lane road. Perfect pavement. Last section was double yellow. Vistas. Some sections climb up to run along tidges. Some switchbacks. Some forested sections. Farms. Stream access. Few houses. I will ride this again.
