After yesterday's successful 3.5 hour run, we intend to head out again for another day of break-in.
The boat is back together so we're going to take the funny looking motorcycle out on some water.
If all goes to plan, Duncan, Bruce, and I will go on a two and half day or so ride through some of the more northern roads I've explored in Virginia with America Rides Maps. This is a street ride. I promise! ;)
Once again we're departing on a funny looking motorcycle for a crossing from Bermuda to Halifax, Nova Scotia. This will also be the first trip where we should, fingers crossed, have offline posting of status updates and photos. This has been a capability I have wanted for the longest time.
It's been a while since we've been on the bikes, so we're going to head out in some random direction. No great plan, just an intention to spend some time on two wheels.
Once again we are embarking on an adventure involving a funny looking motorcycle. From March 26th to April 3rd six friends and I will be aboard the Tabasco, a Baltic 76 sailboat, sailing around Sint Maarten. Since I don't have a selection for "Other" vehicle type yet, if you want to respond just select "Watch".
Weather is looking somewhat iffy but temps are in the 70's today. Chance of rain is less heading West.
We haven't ridden since October. Work looms large but the forecast is for 63degF tomorrow. I know not where to go, just that we must go. We'll see if the R11S starts.
Lisa wants to take her jeep off pavement so we're planning a little jaunt up to the better parts of the watershed and Michaux State Forest. Since this is not a motorcycle ride just set yourself to "watching".
The trip that got me into sailing. I've been invited to crew on a 46' catamaran sailboat leaving from Annapolis, Maryland to St Martin. I am tempted to stand up another site just for this trip, so as to not dilute Miles By Motorcycle, but I am stretched pretty thin these days so I don't know if I'll get that done before I leave. I just find having a place where I can keep all the things around a trip in one place is just too useful, so this "ride" is where I am planning and will document my upcoming sailing adventure. Feel free to join the site and "watch" this "ride" to get notifications when I post updates. There will be a number of days when I won't have any signal so updates will be intermittent.
After finishing some work on the cottage, especially since it may be many weeks before we get to ride again, Duncan and I are going to take an easy local ride on the street bikes.
It's been quite a while since we've taken the big bikes.
An impromptu trip, not expecting to find rooms during peak leaf season, Jackie and I will set out for a weekend of looking for ways to ride the smallest back roads from North Carolina to Virginia and back without riding the Interstates in roughly the same amount of time.
We're going to be guiding a few jeeps through th e gravel roads of Michaux State Forest in PA. We'll be meeting at the social center of Thurmont also known as the Sheetz off of 15 and 550, which is marked on the map. The Sheetz is at 428 North Church Street, Thurmont, Md 21788
I'm going to head down to Waynesville for 5 days to help map and explore the plethora of fire service and other legal unpaved roads in the area. Unfortunately, because of time constraints, I'm going to have to travel the entire distance in a single day both on the trip down and the trip back. It's a tall exhausting order on a DR650. 637 miles on twisty back roads in a single day ...
We'll be taking all three DR's up to Michaux for the first time tomorrow. My thought is to bypass the watershed because of the dead ends and just head to our traditional entry point at the Southernmost end on Rattlesnake Run Road. The plan is to meet over at 11 and then slab it up to the traditional Sheetz, probably by 12:15 or so and then on to gravel. We'll be retracing the route up we took to the IMS show.
I'm heading up most likely solo to the IMS show on Saturday in Carlisle PA. My thought is to try to take a nicer route up than to just slab it.
Assuming I can get both the R1100S Guest Bike and my DR650SE operational before Saturday, we're planning on a hopefully longish day ride. Sadly, a multi-day overnight was not in the cards for this Bruce visit.
I've decided to risk riding the DR despite the worn chain. We're just going to go on a few hour short little local ride before my meeting at 4.
A group ride for Washington DC metropolitan area riders of BMW K1200S and K1300S and friends.
We're going to attempt a bit of a longer ride today.
The weather is nice. Time for a short late afternoon ride.
I'm not sure where we'll head but the weather is gorgeous and it's time for a ride.
The plan is to head to Southern Maryland to check out that road Mike showed me and maybe a few more.
