buffalo(https://adv-traveler.com/buffalo) and I did our first excursion together on DR650's yesterday. There aren't much in the way of legal unpaved riding opportunities around DC so I thought I'd start this thread as a way of making a collection of unpaved roads and the like in Maryland. I found these tracks on ADVrider. PA, MD, VA, WV Routes (Dirt Roads) - ADVrider(https://adv-traveler.com/136/links/10688/-pa--md--va--wv-routes--dirt-roads----advrider) Not all of the files in the zip were in GPX format so I used : GPS Visualizer(https://adv-traveler.com/136/links/10687/gps-visualizer) to convert that Garmin GDB file format into GPX. The resolution of the tracks isn't great, but at least it gives us some areas to explore. Unpaved Roads in Maryland - courtesy of ADVRider.(https://adv-traveler.com/136/maps/10683/unpaved-roads-in-maryland---courtesy-of-advrider-) According to the thread, the best roads are around Green Ridge State Forest: Green Ridge State Forest | Forest Service | Maryland Department of Natural Resources(https://adv-traveler.com/136/links/10684/green-ridge-state-forest---forest-service---maryland-department-of-natural-resources) Know of any unpaved roads in Maryland?

In looking for more off pavement opportunities in and around DC, I found these tracks on ADVRider. The best off-road sections are reported to be around GreenRidge National Forest.

July 2014 Dual Sport Weekend

July 2014 Dual Sport Weekend

I failed to post this map. Some many weekends ago I went on a two day "dual sport" ride through West Virginia along some unpaved country roads. On of these, Route 13, proved to be moderately challenging and was not traversable by car as it went through three largish creeks and involved some modestly steep rutted hill climbs and a good amount of deep mud puddles. All in all a very good weekend.

Just took a glance at the Washington Area Trail Riders website. In particular, check out the "where to ride" section of the site: Washington Area Trail Riders(https://adv-traveler.com/136/links/10379/washington-area-trail-riders)
