Days 4, 5, and 6 - Where The Plan Ends ...

They say adventure begins where the plan ends.  So I am sitting in the office of the marina where we are currently docked. We lowered and removed the severely damaged mainsail yesterday afternoon and a sailmaker picked it up. As I am sitting here inside, Dana and Peter are working on making some repairs to the headsail. Dana has a big Sailrite sewing machine on board with all kinds of supplies and is very accomplished with the gadget. Headsail Repairs(https://adv-traveler.com/yermo/ride ...Read More

I can’t believe it but while Peter and Dana were out getting provisions, the sail arrived. The sailmaker guy instructed me on how to use the main lanyard to lift the sail onto the deck. I got my workout in for the day.

Headsail Repairs

I managed to sleep pretty well last night despite having a few dreams that verged on nightmares. Connectivity here /SUCKS/ both LTE and the local WIFI hotspot. It's super slow so I'm setting next to the marina office where it's a little better slowly trying to do something with these photos and videos I've taken.

The mainsail was picked up yesterday afternoon and, fingers crossed, we are hoping the repairs can be finished by tomorrow so we can possibly leave here Thursday or Friday. We may have blown our weather window so it's possible we might get stuck in Norfolk for a few days while we wait for the next safe window to make the crossing.

There are quite a number of colorful characters here at this Deltaville marina.

Despite fatigue I did manage to post the updated track and current photos to the Trip Map. FWIW.

I am sorry. No writing again today. I am so tired. We have a down day tomorrow and I hope to craft some words. So much is happening at a rate I can’t keep up with in the written word and asthe days pass my failing memory loses many details. There have been so many wonderful quotes I can only paraphrase. It used to not be like this.Today was a “big” day in “little”waves. But waves in a sailboat are like corners on a motorcycle. They are relative to experience and is this domain I do not have much experience.
